This course aims at covering the most important topics in modern macroeconomics.

The course aims to enable students to understand and critically analyse the essential aspects of the current phase of globalization both in its real and monetary aspects, that is related to trade and trade policies and to the role of exchange rates and the liberalization of foreign exchange respectively. In this context, the course focuses on the emergence and the role of international institutions in the regulation of economic relationship between countries. The second part of the course analyses the effects of globalization on economic development, with particular reference to the institutional dynamics and the distributive and environmental conflicts.
