The course provides an introduction to Capital Markets regulation, with a focus on European Law.
It addresses what capital markets are and how they function and the reasons for their regulation. It briefly introduces the foundations of capital markets regulation in particular at European level, and dives into the regulation of financial instruments, including cryptoassets.
It then discusses market abuse, and the disclosure system, and trading activities, including algorithmic trading, and the basics of takeover law.
Objectives: provide an overview and understanding of the subject matter, as well as developing methodological capacities to analyse complex legal texts and the implications of capital markets regulation, in particular at European level.
